Sharps

Toxic materials are those that can be poisonous or harm our health when they’re inhaled, swallowed or touch the skin. We all recognize the skull and crossbones indicating “poison”, but few of us think of the everyday products in our homes as dangerous – that’s because, used properly, they aren’t. Products labeled toxic accomplish their intended purpose and are often very beneficial – just think of the medicines that, taken according to instructions, improve your health. Still, most cupboards and closets are full of toxic materials, so it’s important we know which products are toxic and take the proper precautions.

Proper care’s not only important when you’re using and storing the product – it’s just as critical when you’ve got leftovers or empty containers. That’s where Orange Drop comes in – now you can return these materials to your local Municipal Recycling Facility or to a collection event in your community.

What's included?

From oven cleaners, epoxies, moth balls, and methanol, to adhesives, paint strippers and degreasers, and automotive additives, toxic materials, cover a wide range of products. As an umbrella category, toxics include a number of other stand-alone Orange Drop materials – things like pesticides, solvents, antifreeze and pharmaceuticals. Don’t know if your product is toxic? Check the label for words like “Harmful or fatal if swallowed” or “Use only in a well ventilated area.” If you’re still not sure if your product is an Orange Drop material, don’t just toss it out – ask us or call your local drop zone for more information.

It's time to Make the Drop – Orange Drop!
